What an inspiring learning journey educators have had completing challenges and tasks for The Goal-Minded Teacher MOOC! For the past 5 weeks, over 600 teachers from across 5 continents and over 20 countries completed 10 tasks, which included transforming activities into meaningful learning missions, designing digital badges, mind mapping digital learning theories and models, surveying their students about their use of technology, visualizing their teacher survival kits, creating parent digital safety resources, and working together on designing global collaboration tasks and projects. The Goal-Minded Teacher, week 5

The focus of the fifth and final week of The Goal-Minded Teacher MOOC is Teaching as a Collaborative Process! Participants collaborated with other teachers to design a global collaboration activity. In some cases participants described global collaboration projects they’ve participated in and added strategies and web tools for better collaboration. Fifth week of #EduGoalsMooc

Students already use technology and social media to connect with others worldwide, but they need to develop the skills to communicate and problem solve with peers more effectively. The focus of Unit 5 of The Goal-Minded Teacher MOOC (#EduGoalsMooc) is Teaching as a Collaborative Process. There is still time to enroll in this free online course and complete the tasks. For the first task of Unit 4 participants designed Teacher Survival Kits equipped with tools, resources, materials, and apps to help them keep students focused and learning, especially when lessons don’t go as planned. Classroom management and parent engagement are ongoing challenges educators face throughout their careers. In Unit 4 of The Goal-Minded Teacher MOOC (#EduGoalsMooc), participants will discover free web tools and apps as well as techniques and tips to help manage their classrooms more effectively and communicate with parents. In the third week of The Goal-Minded Teacher MOOC the focus is Effective Technology Integration! For the first task of Unit 3 participants evaluated digital learning models and approaches, such as RAT, SAMR, TPACK, Digital Blooms, Connectivism, Peeragogy, and Design Thinking. In the second week of The Goal-Minded Teacher MOOC the focus is on Making Learning Meaningful for Students! Instead of assigning students homework or tasks, participants are sending their students on learning missions. The first task is to transform an activity into a learning mission with a Mission Student Challenge statement, a brief Mission Description, a Mission Overview, Objectives, Purpose, and Recommended Tools and Resources. This week is the start of Unit 2 of The Goal-Minded Teacher MOOC #EduGoalsMooc! The focus for Unit 2 is Making Learning Meaningful for Students! Remember enrollment is open till March 23rd!
